The signal field

An event, with evidence

The field draws your spectrum with persistence and history — and when something develops, Beacon names it in plain language: Persistent concentration near 3.2 kHz — 6.1 dB above the recent surrounding spectrum for 8.4 seconds · developing. A measurement, a duration, a status. Never a vague warning light.

Beacon will not cry wolf: red is reserved for verified critical technical faults. Everything contextual or inferred tops out at Attention, and inferences state their confidence.

Live view

For the moment you can’t stop

On stage or in a take, you don’t read spectra — you glance. Live view answers in glances: headroom, channel health, feedback watch, and the last mark you dropped, each as a card you can read from across the room. Mark a moment with one press and deal with it when the music stops.

Tune the judgment, not the sound

Beacon has no sound of its own to shape. Its five macros tune how it judges — how much evidence, how long, how fast, against what baseline, with how much memory.

The watchlist

Six families, all visible

The drawer holds the watchlist: level, resonance, feedback, dynamics, stereo, and technical — each with its own sensitivity and minimum duration, all six visible at once even at the smallest window size.

Pin a frequency you are hunting. Ignore the mains hum you already know about. Keep history across the session, and export what Beacon saw.

Truthful by construction

Health, honestly

The rail keeps sensitivity at the top, over calibrated input and true-peak meters with a held TP max, a health module that summarizes the watch — CALM…ACTIVE, with developing and critical counts — and a loudness & stereo module: LUFS, crest, correlation, mono compatibility.

The suite rule applies with extra force to a monitor: every moving pixel traces to real measurement of your signal. A monitor that decorated would be lying about the one thing it exists to tell.
