Help & answers.
How the trials, licenses and prices work, what runs where, and how to reach us.
Trying and buying
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Studio 48 and every paid plugin come with a 30-day trial with every feature on. No email, no account, no card. Beacon is simply free.
What happens when the trial ends?
Studio 48: When the trial ends, Studio 48 still opens, plays, edits, saves and exports every project. Only recording new takes needs a license. Plugins: When the trial ends, the plugins keep playing your sessions and everything you saved still opens. A license unlocks saving new changes. Nothing you made gets locked away.
What does it cost?
Studio 48 is $49 until 31 January 2027, then $79. Each plugin is $39 until 31 January 2027, then $59. The complete suite, every paid plugin in one license, will be $179 at launch, then $249. Beacon is free. Prices are in US dollars. See pricing.
When can I buy?
Studio 48 goes on sale on 10 November. Until then the current version is a free download. The plugins are in private testing. Join the waitlist and we’ll email you once when they’re out.
Is it a subscription?
No, and it never will be. You buy a license once and keep it.
Can I get a refund on Studio 48?
Yes. If it isn’t right for you, email us within 14 days of buying. The trial is the best way to find out first.
What will I see on my card statement?
Checkout runs on Stripe, with Link handling the payment and sales tax. The charge reads LINK.COM* SPRK PRODUCTIONS. That’s us: our sales run through SPRK Productions.
Licenses
Do I need iLok, a dongle or an account?
No. Your license is a short code that’s checked on your Mac. No activation server, nothing sent anywhere, and it works offline for good.
How do I use my license?
After checkout, the license page shows your code with a Copy button. Open the app, choose License…, and paste it.
I lost my license code.
Get it again on the license page with your checkout email and order reference, or email us with your receipt.
Do updates cost extra?
A Studio 48 license covers every 1.x version, including betas.
Compatibility
Which Macs?
Apple-Silicon Macs (M1 and later). Studio 48 needs macOS 14 or later. Each plugin page lists its own requirements.
Which plugin formats and hosts?
AUv2 and VST3, plus a standalone app for each plugin. They work in Mac hosts that load those formats. In Logic, look under the manufacturer “Sonaurelis”. There’s no AAX version yet, so not Pro Tools.
Windows or Intel Macs?
Not at the moment. Everything is built for Apple Silicon.
Does Studio 48 load third-party plugins?
Not yet. It comes with Gravitywell, Starveil, Timewake and the Console EQ built in.
Do I need an internet connection?
No. Everything runs on your Mac with no accounts, usage tracking or cloud connection.
About the site
What do the interface images show?
Each image is labeled. Some are reference renders made from the design standard; Timewake, Luster EQ, Toneveil and Studio 48 show captures of the real interface. On a plugin page, choose a view and enlarge it to look closer.
Who makes Sonaurelis?
Really Bad Studio. We design and build the plugins and Studio 48 ourselves, and sell them here.
